Couture isn’t really about grasping a sense of reality, nor is it about clothes, but more about what-if fantasies being carefully crafted to life; a celebration of all things beautiful and elaborate, couture is the stuff fairy tales are made of. And perhaps that’s why Michelle Aristocrat thought of the woods as a painstakingly fitted backdrop for the dreamy couture silhouettes designed by Ryan Joelson.
Layers and layers of tulle, handfuls of appliques and a palette of colours that goes from earthy and subdued, to super-feminine and soft, prove that too much is never enough, not when it allows for even the most impossible of fantasies to bloom unseen.
