Hi my loves!! I’m so excited because today I’m finally showing you guys my BACKYARD MAKEOVER!! When we first closed on our home, there was nothing but dirt and the tile in our yard. So it’s been a work in progress for quite awhile and has come a long way since we first bought our home! We added white pebbles to cover the ground, installed hedges for privacy all around the back of the house, installed new sconces, LED string-lights and planted tons of birds of paradise around the space to make feel tropical and full! We got in new outdoor furniture from Article just in time for the summer so we can host our friends and family for outdoor dinners and enjoy some downtime in our yard. What I really love about our outdoor furniture from Article is that it’s the perfect combination between modern and contemporary. All the pieces are really stylish, chic, and have a cozy feel to them. Since we wanted to implement a lot of greenery and tropical vibes into the space, I really wanted outdoor furniture that would pay homage to tropical style and have a nice contrast against all the green, so the natural textures and rattan finishes on all our furniture pieces couldn’t have been more perfect for this space! My dream for stepping into our backyard was to feel like we were on vacation, in a little tropical oasis that feels warm and inviting and I’m so glad we have accomplished that!
We created this cozy lounge area with a big sectional, coffee table, and 2 lounge chairs. We’re actually planning on putting a projector on the back wall of our garage so we can have movie nights out here! Since it gets pretty chilly in the evenings, I put out these woven baskets stuffed with blankets and pillows to keep warm and I think they add a nice touch to the space. My absolute favorite part of the lounge area backyard is this gorgeous rattan daybed that reminds me of Hawaii! To tie the whole space together, we planted a ton of birds of paradise in each corner along with some large palm leaves we picked up at the local flower mart! I really love how all the greenery brings so much life and warmth into the space, plus it compliments the rattan finishes on the furniture so perfectly.
My dream tablescape! G and I love to entertain, so when we first moved into this house I was really excited to get our backyard going so we can have our friends and family over for summer soiree’s like this! I wanted to go for a nice warm, soft, terracotta and neutral palette for this tablescape. I love these textured tan-colored plates from World Market. I paired them with these terracotta fringe napkins and wood/brass napkin rings. Since our dining table is a dark wood, I got these pretty natural braided placemats with a fringe rim.
Installing the string-lights really transformed our entire backyard and made it feel so much more romantic and peaceful!
