Let’s cut to the chase. Quick, simple, uncomplicated hairstyles are like diamonds in the rough these days but I have one for you long hair lovers today! Now let’s not act like we didn’t add some clip-in extensions to this hair, okayyyyy. We did. We added 2 tracks for extra density but not for length. They’re not super-thick tracks because the thicker they are the harder it can be to conceal them with a ponytail. Here are the 3 steps to this look!
Prep the hair with an ocean/sea salt spray for texture. We used THIS ONE from Wella! This can be done on any hair type. We did it on fine straight hair with zero wave. It’s pretty much just air dried and the the clip-ins were added.
- Put your hair in a centered ponytail. Leave out the sides as you see we did in the photo above. Just a couple inches is fine if your hair is dense on the sides, but if it’s fine/thin, leave 3-4 inches out.
- Do a short braid. Maybe 4-6 cross overs total. It should go a little less than halfway down the ponytail. Secure that using a clear elastic.
- Take the braided part and gently loosen it up with your fingers. This will fatten the braid and add texture. I also love to add a little TEXTURE POWDER at this point before I pull it apart. Texture powder helps me keep the braid from falling apart because it has a little grit + hold.
At this point you have a couple options with the side pieces. You can simply wrap them around the ponytail holder and pin (as you see in photo A) or you can twist and pin them into the hair (the way we did in photo B)! You could also braid the sides and incorporate them which I didn’t think of until right now but that would be a gorgeous option as well.
