Tetsu Kubota was born in Japan. He left his family when he was 16 to move to Australia to study English. While studying commerce at Melbourne University Kubota he discovered his passion for photography and so decided to transfer to an applicable course at RMIT University. His interests evolved to moving image and he continued his study at The Film School of Tokyo, while assisting some of the world's finest photographers in Paris, London and New York. After working for a few years as a fashion photographer in Paris, Kubota moved to New York in 2011, where he is currently based.
