Positioned within a bamboo grove, the project forms part of the ‘Nankunshan–Luofushan Rim Pioneer Zone (Huizhou) Architectural Art Project,’ a regional initiative that introduces architectural interventions and cultural waystations along a 218-kilometer scenic tourism route. The micro-museum is dedicated to documenting and interpreting vernacular historic bridges found across the Huizhou region. The project combines exhibition spaces with visitor amenities, such as tea and coffee service areas, restrooms, and seating, allowing the building to function both as a cultural installation and a small public facility along the scenic route. The project emerged from field research and archival investigation into traditional bridge construction in Huizhou. Surveys identified two primary vernacular bridge types: the baqiao, commonly referred to as the ‘goose-chest bridge,’ and the gaoqiao, locally known as the ‘bench-leg bridge.’ Baqiao bridges, including the nearby Shisanba Bridge, typically appear in areas where the difference between river level and embankment is relatively small. Their upstream piers are shaped like tapered spindles with slightly raised tips, creating a distinctive structural profile. Stone slabs span between the piers, forming a bridge deck assembled through interlocking construction methods. Gaoqiao bridges occur in locations where riverbanks rise higher above the water and the span is narrower. In these structures, long and slender stone posts splay outward and downward, resembling the legs of a bench. Mortise-and-tenon joints connect the vertical posts with horizontal beams, demonstrating a sophisticated stone-working tradition that also appears in local dwellings and village architecture. Fieldwork also revealed additional vernacular arc... Read more

<![CDATA[Kristina added new blog post]]>Galerie Philia Brings Human After All to Seoul Galerie Philia presents Human After All in Seoul, an exhibition that gathers a new generation of Korean designers within a former bathhouse whose architecture carries decades of transformation. The project continues the gallery’s ongoing approach of staging contemporary design within buildings that hold strong architectural character. Over the past decade, Galerie Philia has organized exhibitions in iconic buildings by designers such as Jean Nouvel and Le Corbusier, where it composes contemporary objects within spaces shaped by culture. In Seoul, the gallery returns three years after Surfaces and Cavity at Define Seoul, introducing a new curatorial direction developed by co-founder and art director Ygaël Attali. Humans After All is on view in Seoul from March 5th through March 15th, 2026. FICT Studio, Human After All, Galerie Philia ‘humans after all’ occupies a historic bathhouse The Seoul venue shapes the experience from the moment visitors enter Galerie Philia‘s exhibition Human After All. Constructed in the 1980s as a neighborhood bathhouse and later converted into a church, the building carries traces of several lives. A tall central volume rises through the structure, drawing daylight from a skylight above and casting it across exposed concrete surfaces. The atmosphere feels contemplative, and the architectural framework guides how each object comes into view. Attali treats the building as an active participant in the exhibition. The gallery’s installations follow the structure’s vertical rhythm, allowing the works to inhabit different levels of light and proximity. Within this setting, objects gain presence through their relationship to surface, scale, and shadow. <![CDATA[Kristina added new blog post]]>CIFRA: A Digital Platform for New Media Art CIFRA is a digital platform dedicated to the presentation, contextualization, and long-term accessibility of new media art. It connects artists, curators, and audiences through streaming, curated thematic collections, interviews, and educational programming. By providing a stable digital environment, the platform supports generative, AI-driven, interactive, glitch-based, and immersive works that often remain accessible only for the duration of temporary exhibitions or circulate briefly through social media. The platform emphasizes sustained visibility and preservation. Digital-native artworks frequently disappear after exhibitions conclude; CIFRA addresses this condition by hosting and organizing works within a structured curatorial framework. Projects are presented without fees for artists, and programming is shaped through human curation rather than algorithmic sorting. Editorial texts, thematic groupings, interviews, and artist talks situate each work within its conceptual and technical context, enabling informed engagement and repeated viewing. CIFRA also operates within physical art contexts through collaborations and public programming. The platform has partnered with events and institutions, including Art Dubai, Positions Art Fair in Berlin, Ars Electronica, and ISEA, participating in talks, gatherings, and exhibition formats that extend digital-native practices to broader audiences. The CIFRA Award recognizes work in video, cyberart, projection mapping, and interactive media. Presented internationally, from Venice to Shanghai and Barcelona, the award provides recipients with curatorial support, exposure, and grants, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to long-term artistic development. a shot from Abstruse Revelries of a Repast by Ranbir Kaleka | image courtesy of the Artist Centering Artists in the World of New Media Art Hosting thousands of artworks by more than a thous...
