Okay here’s the deal: last spring, I accidentially stopped wearing make-up.

Now this wasn’t a concious decision, it was really a matter of my depression getting stronger than my anxiety, but I realized, a month or so after the fact, that had stopped my 4 year ritual of doing make up every morning.

The odd thing, I don’t miss it. I don’t miss the added stress in the morning, and I’ve gotten rid of the mind set that I need it. Don’t get me wrong, I still have crap self-confidence, but I’ve stopped thinking that some mascara and eyeliner will make or break me I do still wear make up, on occasion. For special events or when I just want to feel fancy, but there is no pressure.

There is one other thing I’ve noticed. Nobody cares whether or not I have make up on. Sure, I don’t get complements on my really good cat-eye, but none of my friends have asked me why I’m no wearing it anymore.

There’s really no point to this. There’s no life lesson or words of wisdom. And there’s no shade towards people who do wear make up on a daily basis. There’s just me growing into a new (hopefully better) person as my life changes.
