I was at a [insert popular US pharmacy] after getting my covid shot and took a picture of this very trend.
All these white/lighter skin color names for makeup: “shell, porcelain, ivory, nude, warm beige, soft sand, classic tan”
The darker skin color names: “tawny, hazelnut, caramel, sable, nutmeg, deep golden, mocha, cocoa”
Do you see the difference?
Like. Come on. I promise you there are other words to describe darker skinned people than using food. Here’s a more in depth explanation to why it is an uncomfortable practice. Please do us all a favor and read through this post if you’d like tips on how to better describe skin colors.
