Karl Lagerfeld took the latest Métiers d’Art collection for Chanel to Rome – and yet the collection was staged against a backdrop of Paris. “It is just an idea, a dream, of Paris. We need to keep dreaming, because the reality in Paris is bleak,” Lagerfeld is quoted as saying. Out of a faux Paris Metro station, models in bouffant hair and rock chic eyemakeup emerged in the latest Chanel creations. And much like the backdrop their tweed suits, short skirts and black lace tights felt distinctly Parisian.
