a tiny backpack for your phone? ninja labs introduces its stretchy magsafe flex pouch

a tiny handbag for your smartphone

There’s now room for your AirPods, chapstick, and car key fob on the back of your phone, thanks to a stretchy silicone pocket by Los Angeles-based Ninja Labs. The company has introduced a MagSafe version of its Flex Pouch, a small, expandable compartment that attaches magnetically to compatible smartphones. It can be pulled off whenever you want, turning an ordinary phone into a tiny, stretchy handbag that’s ready to hold all the little things that tend to disappear into our pockets.

The pouch can accommodate anything from a single credit card to a thick stack of twenty, according to the company. Lip gloss and wireless earbuds can be squeezed inside, along with a handful of loose change. The contents press against the soft silicone, creating a lumpy silhouette that changes depending on what’s packed inside. Empty it out, and the pocket shrinks back down.

memory silicone stretches to twice its original size

The design relies on Ninja Labs’ proprietary silicone blend, which can stretch to twice its original size before returning to its familiar shape. Its naturally grippy surface wraps around the contents, keeping objects in place without a zipper or clasp. The pouch expands outward from the flat surface of the phone, making room for surprisingly bulky objects while leaving them accessible from the top.

The company says the material retained more than 90 percent of its original stretch after 10,000 stretching cycles. The silicone can accommodate objects with irregular shapes, although the company advises against storing ordinary house keys or anything with sharp edges that could puncture the material. A car key fob, on the other hand, fits inside the soft pocket.

ninja labs gives its flex pouch a magsafe update

The magnetic attachment is the latest development in Ninja Labs’ existing Flex Pouch collection, which originally incorporated the stretchy pocket directly into an iPhone case. With the new MagSafe version, the storage compartment becomes an independent accessory. It snaps onto the back of a compatible phone or case and can be removed in seconds, allowing users to keep their existing protective case.

The $58 USD MagSafe Flex Pouch is available in pink, baby blue, lavender and black, with translucent silicone and a sparkling pink option among the finishes. It works with MagSafe-compatible iPhones and can also be used with Android devices fitted with a suitable magnetic case. The accessory provides storage without any additional protection for the phone itself. And while it might be an unusual sight to see a phone bulging with cosmetics or a bundle of cards, the ability to leave the bag at home could be tempting.
